Histories
The shortest version

Lee was incorporated in 1777.  "..not more than 150 persons resided within its limits, and nearly ... half of its able-bodied men were in the revolutionary army."   (Hyde, pg 43)

in 1857, ... there were 25 [paper] mills in Lee, with an annual production of $ 2,000,000. (Hyde, pg 289)

Today, tourism is the major industry in Lee.  Only one paper mill remains; one large farm and two smaller farms remain; Old Castle Stone Production (Lee Lime) is in operation, but no marble is quarried.

Boyd Industries and Berkshire Sterile are expanding biomedicals and Zogics does well in medical products.

We are an industrial town, but have a diverse economy with agriculture, services, and tourism.
