Post Office Exhibit
October 2020
Lee Historical Society

"Trading Local Lee" is an exhibit that begins to tell the story of the development of Lee's vibrant business community starting with the subsistence farming days of Dodgetown when the town was founded in 1777.

On display throughout the month of October at the Lee Post Office, the exhibit highlights the diet of residents before Lee had stores, the start of general stores, the growing business district and an inventory of businesses in 1860 and the start of collaboration with the Lee Chamber of Commerce in 1924.

Historic photographs, old advertising, 19th century business invoices and a few business artifacts are included.

Plans are for a much larger exhibit on the topic at the Lee Library next summer.

The exhibit is co-sponsored by the Lee Historical Society and the Lee Chamber of Commerce.
